We are getting set up for the upcoming launch of the Genesys Project and some questions that have been coming up with podcasters and interviewers is just how you progress and "level up" you faction. So lets dive into that a little here.

Missions: Your games are at the heart of advancement starting with missions. Both you and your opponent both have a primary mission when you play a game. They are not necessarily the same, but may end up being that way. This is rolled up before the game starts. After the 2nd Game Round is complete, you roll up a Secondary Mission that is shared between both players.

Mission Awards: Every Primary Mission has it's own Mission Award that you get if you succeed in fulfilling it. These awards are new traits and abilities, building new unit classes, gaining new weapon/equipment options, etc. There are quite a few of these and they vary. These are just flat out awards for completing your mission. The last thing..... you can always dump your primary mission award and create a hero.

Progression Points: Progression points advance you through the ages. There are a total number of Progression Points possible in a game equal to the point level you are playing. Playing a 1,000pt game? You can gain a total of 1,000 progression points. (Both sides bringing 1,000pts each).

Here is how you get them based on the total point value you are playing.

  • Completing your Primary Mission- 50%
  • Stopping your Opponent from Completing their Primary Mission: 25%
  • Completing and winning the Secondary Mission: 25%

So looking at our 1,000pt game.
Taking your Primary Mission grants you 500 progression points
Stopping your opponent from completing their Primary Mission gets you 250 progression points
and finally winning the Secondary Mission over your opponent gets you 250 progression points.

The other thing is that you can spend progression points........... to buy new traits etc. Of course this slows down your advancement to the next Age, so its more efficient to use Mission Awards that do not use progression points to gain new skills and weapons.

In the end to advance to another Age, you need so many progression points. While this can be adjusted for campaign play, advancing to a different age runs you through at least 10-20 games.

We will talk more as things move closer....
