"It was round 6 and I was going last, but if I just had one more round....... I would of had my objectives"

We've all been there. In the last round of the game you really don't care anymore if your guys break from cover... after all the opponent is done and after your turn the game will be over. Careful...... The Genesys Project is not that game.

Lets dive into missions and something called the End Game.

Is the Genesys Project new to you? See our official announcement here

Primary Missions
Each army that comes to the table to play a game in the Genesys Project rolls for their own individual Primary Mission. Its quite possible that they are the same, but most of the time each army has different reasons for being in this battle and your Primary Mission reflects this.

Your Primary Mission is the sole reason you are in this battle and certain battle plans, or even certain Heroes or Leaders can alter your mission dependent upon their abilities.

Primary Mission Awards
Just as in the mission itself, your awards for achieving your Primary Mission are your first and foremost goal in the game. Achieving it grants you a Primary Mission Award for your faction that could be anything from an artifact/new advanced armory traits, new faction or class traits, or a variety of other awards that are available.

Secondary Missions
As both players are fighting hard for their Primary Mission there is also a shared Secondary Mission. This is a during game event that is rolled for after the completion of the 2nd Game Round thus altering the game from then on. This is the kink in the plan, changing conditions, and that extra bit that may just make the difference to give you the win over your opponent. Since this is a shared mission, only you or your opponent can declare victory over a Secondary Mission.

Progression
We talked about Primary Mission Awards... but its Progression Points that advance your faction towards the next age of gameplay. Progression Points are awarded from gameplay and can be even be spent on traits and abilities.
In any given game there is an equal number of Progression Points possible equal to the point level of the game you are playing. If you are playing a 1000point game.. its possible for you to achieve 1000 Progression Points.
Its broken down like this....
Achieving your Primary Mission gain 50% of the possible points
Achieving the Secondary Mission gain 25% of the possible points
Stopping your opponent from achieving their Primary Mission 25% of the possible points.

Achieving your Primary Mission
The Genesys Project consists of 6 Game Rounds during normal game play. This is more than enough time to inflict serious damage to each other and fight to achieve your missions. However.... sometimes you need just a little bit more.... Introducing the End Game....

The End Game...
Its quite possible to extend the game beyond the normal 6 Rounds. Game Rounds 7-10 are called the End Game if the game goes that far. Need just one more round to reach your objectives? Need to beat down the opponent a little bit more to achieve your mission? Here is how you do it.

If you wish to progress the game to round 7 you must roll a d6 and add your Command characteristic to it to equal or beat a 7 on the roll.
Command +d6 to beat the Game Round you want to extend the game into.

To reach further Game Rounds your roll to continue the game must equal the Round you wish to go into. As you can see the further into the End Game you go, the harder it is to keep the game going. Most leaders have a Command between 3-6.

So you can see how a higher Command is quite valuable. However... the model with that Command must still be alive on the tabletop making it also quite important to take out an opponents command structure if you want control on whether the game continues or not.

If an opponents highest Command on the table is killed and reduced to the next highest... Ive seen this so many times during playtesting.... then it negates their ability not only to activate as many squads.... but also limits their opportunities to reach into the End Game.

So what do you think? We have just touched the surface on tactics and gameplay. Want to know more? Another article is going live on Faeit 212 this morning.. or is already there revealing what makes the game play in the Genesys Project so Dynamic and Interactive.......
