There is a lot that has either changed, been altered or added to since the Open Beta for the Genesys Project ended back in March. In fact we are in the process of getting ready for the games launch and its great fun to actually sit down and look at some of the mechanics of the game!!!!

One of the big ones is the Combat Situation, where both sides of a combat work to gain the advantage over the other. In any Melee or Ranged Combat the Combat Situation is added up to see which side has the advantage and will get a bonus to their die rolls.

Essentially it works like this.... Both sides total up any enhancements they get based on their combat situation and who ever has the highest takes the difference between the two and adds them to their dice rolls during the combat.

Only one side may take the advantage from the Combat Situation and apply the Enhancement bonus to their die rolls.

How do you gain Enhancements for the Combat Situation? Lets break it down and take a look.
Each bonus is generally 1, but can be higher, and your total enhancements are limited by the Maximum Age Bonus (which is now 4 for the 1st Age, 5 for the 2nd, and 6 for the 3rd.

For Ranged combat its obvious who is the attacker and defender, but for melee combat you may choose to use the Defender or the Attacker to total your bonuses. You may do this every round of the combat.... you know for those times the dice are just not going your way and its time to take a defensive stance.

Once the Combat Situation is determined, (which normally takes but a couple moments), the combat takes place and dice are rolled.
